Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's practice in law is centered around family law. She has a passion for it. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony matters, marital property division child custody battles, and child support arrangements. She also deals with post-divorce and enforcement matters as well as step-parent adoptions, private adoptions for parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as wills, trusts, probate and estate administration along with commercial contracts, civil litigation cases. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since the year 2019 helping parties to help them resolve their matters without needing court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediations for people who want to avoid court processes and litigation.
After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual Bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was a Note Editor for the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and research in the field of law.
After completing her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014 she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her primary focus in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases dealing with child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who were victims of abuse or neglect at the by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social justice went beyond her legal practice and she was active as an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, which worked hard to raise awareness about human trafficking in the tri-state area.
In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the area of family law - divorce, child support, custody and guardianships - as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. She has a the goal of providing an individual approach to each client's requirements.
