Ashley Wilburn, a native of Hagerstown, Maryland, proudly hails from North Hagerstown High School, where she completed her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's present legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family matters. She focuses the majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes marital property distribution, child custody battles, child support arrangements, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement and issues as well as step-parent and private party adoptions and child welfare concerns. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including probate, wills, trusts, and estate administration, along with commercial, contract, and civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a mediator appointed by the court since 2019. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for court or litigation involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediations for people who want to stay clear of litigation and court processes.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was ranked among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time at law school. This was a sign of her dedication to legal research and scholarship.
Ashley began her clerkship journey after completing her law degree. She worked for distinguished jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the privilege of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Subsequently, in 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to work as a clerk for the Honorable M. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. Her main focus within the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases which involved child welfare. Ashley's tireless efforts contributed greatly to helping children who were victims of in the face of neglect or abuse at children's parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice extended beyond her legal career as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She was a tireless worker to increase awareness about human trafficking within the tri-state region.
In 2017, she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law such as divorce child support, custody, and guardianships - as well for estate planning, such as wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxy - and mediation.
Ashley founded Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the commitment to provide a personalized approach for every client's needs.
