THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. With a deep-rooted passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family law. She focuses her practice on divorce cases, alimony issues marital property division fights over child custody and child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce and enforcement matters including step-parent adoptions as well as private adoptions at parties as well as concerns about child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning issues, such as trusts, wills and probate and estate administration along with commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019 she assists parties in helping them settle their disputes without needing court involvement. Ashley mediates private matters and also court-appointed mediations for people who wish to avoid court processes and litigation.

Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. She then pursued her legal education through Western New England University School of Law. Graduating in 2013, she excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. Ashley was an editor at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This was a sign of her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for distinguished jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She was fortunate to work as a law assistant to the Honorable Richard A. Robinson at the Connecticut Appellate Court and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott. In 2014, she returned home to Hagerstown, Maryland, to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long, Washington County Circuit Court. In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. As an associate attorney. Her main responsibilities at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in cases concerning child welfare. Through her tireless efforts, Ashley played a vital role in helping children who had suffered neglect or abuse at by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice transcended her legal career as she was a member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness regarding human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she was a founding member at Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and began her practice in family law, including custody, divorce and child maintenance, as well as guardianships – as well as financial and estate planning - wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxy and mediation.

Ashley established Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023, with the commitment to provide a customized approach to each client's needs.
