THE BIO

Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she completed her secondary education. Ashley Wilburn's legal career is focused on family law. She has a passion for it. She concentrates her practice on divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property division and child custody battles as well as child support arrangements. She also handles post-divorce enforcement and post-divorce issues as well as step-parent adoptions, private adoptions at parties as and concerns regarding child welfare. In addition to family law, Ashley also handles estate planning matters, including trusts, wills, probate and estate administration along with commercial contract, civil litigation cases. Ashley has been a court-appointed mediator since the year. She helps parties resolve their disputes without the need for litigation or court involvement. In addition to court-appointed mediation, Ashley also mediates in private matters for those who would prefer to avoid the court process and litigation.

After having completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University of Maryland, where she received dual bachelor's degrees in History and Political Science, Ashley pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. When she graduated in 2013, she excelled academically, ranking among the top 10 students in her class. During her time at law school, Ashley served as a Note Editor for the esteemed Western New England Law Review and demonstrated her dedication to legal research and scholarship.

Following the completion of her law degree, Ashley embarked on a clerkship journey, working for prominent jurists in Connecticut and Maryland. She had the pleasure of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. Subsequently, in 2014, she returned to her hometown of Hagerstown to clerk for the Honorable M. Kenneth Long at the Washington County Circuit Court, expanding her knowledge of the local legal landscape. Learn more about Ashley Wilburn

In 2015, Ashley joined the esteemed law firm of Poole & Kane, P.A. as an associate attorney. The primary role she played at the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services in matters pertaining to child welfare. Through her dedication, Ashley played a vital role in assisting children who had suffered neglect or abuse at the by their parents or caregivers. Her commitment to social injustice transcended her legal career as she served as an active member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force. She worked tirelessly to raise awareness regarding human trafficking in the tri-state region.

In 2017, she became a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., where she developed her practice in the fields of family law including divorce, custody, child support and guardianships as well as estate planning, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directive/healthcare proxies - and mediation.

Ashley started Wilburn Law Office, LLC 2023 with the commitment to provide an individual approach to each client's need.
